If only I could meet with such a Saint, who would inspire me to meditate on the Lord, Har, Har, Har. ||1||

In plain words

The One lifts up everyone who has stumbled and carries them safely across — how I love that One.

If only I could meet a holy person who would help me hold the One in my thoughts.

The One lifts up everyone who has stumbled.
The deeper layer

The One lifts up the fallen and carries them across.

Patit udhaaran taaran — the One lifts up those who have fallen and carries them to the far shore. Bal bal jaa-ee-ai — I would give myself to that One again and again. The words repeat four times, the way your heart repeats a thank-you when someone has saved you.

Aisaa ko-ee bhaytai sant — if only I could meet such a holy person, one who helps me remember the One. Think of a friend who reminds you to breathe before a big test. One good reminder can turn the whole day.

A Question to Sit With

When has someone helped you back up after a fall?
