In an instant, all my pains have been taken away; Nanak passes the night of his life in peace. ||2||2||6||

Translation by Dr. Sant Singh Khalsa

In plain words

I have become humble, with no honor of my own, and I look to one shelter only: the Guru, the True Guru, the Primal Being, the Giver of peace.

Nanak says: in a single moment all my pain was cut away, and the night of my life passes in peace.

Come empty-handed to shelter, and the weight you carried can lift in a moment.
The deeper layer

Come humbly to one shelter, and pain can lift in a moment.

Bha-ee nimaanee saran ik taakee: I became nimaanee, without pride or honor of my own, and looked to one shelter. That shelter has many names here: the Guru, the True Guru, the Primal Being, the Giver of peace.

Ayk nimakh meh: in the blink of an eye, all the pain was cut away. Sukh rain bihaa-ee: the night passes in peace, the whole night of a life, spent resting.

A Question to Sit With

When did asking for help lift a weight faster than you expected?
