In plain words

Come to the shelter of the One, and your enemies are struck down, and all who do wrong are overcome.

The One who protects reached out a hand and saved me. I have found the treasure of the Naam.

In the shelter of the One, the things that troubled you lose their power.
The deeper layer

In the shelter of the One, what stood against you loses its power, and a hand reaches down to lift you.

Dusman hatay dokhee sabh vi-aapay: enemies are struck down, and those who wish harm are overcome. Many readers also hear these enemies as the ones inside, like fear, anger and craving, that lose their grip in the shelter.

Raakhanhaarai haath day raakhi-o: the Protector gave me a hand and saved me. It is the tender picture of being lifted out of deep water. Naam padaarath: the wealth of the Naam, the one treasure that stays.

If someone is being unkind to you or hurting you, that is never something you have to accept. Telling a grown-up you trust is always the right thing to do.

A Question to Sit With

What worry loses its grip when you feel safe and held?
