Translation by Dr. Sant Singh Khalsa

In plain words

Crying "Save me, save me!" I have come to Your shelter. I am burning up inside, so please pour Your kindness over me.

Take my hand; I am Yours to serve. Nanak says: make me Your own.

When you feel parched and worn, ask for kindness to pour over you, and let it.
The deeper layer

When you feel burned up and worn out, you can come to the One's shelter and ask to be held.

Traahi traahi is a cry for help: "save me, save me." Jaltau kirpaa keejai: I am burning, have mercy. The heat is the dry, scorching feeling before the monsoon, and mercy comes like the rain Malaar sings about. Kar geh layho: take hold of my hand. Naanak apuno keejai: make Nanak Your own. The prayer ends in belonging.
