The Lord is found through the True Guru, and then he remains merged with the True Lord. ||1||Pause||

Translation by Dr. Sant Singh Khalsa

In plain words

O my mind, fix your attention on the Naam of the One, Har, Har.

Through the True Guru, the One is found, and then you stay merged in the True One.

What you keep your attention on is what you slowly become.
The deeper layer

Keep your attention on the Naam, and the Guru brings you to the One.

This is the rahaa-o, the "pause" line, the center of the whole shabad. Man is the mind. Chit laa-ay means fix your attention there, the way your eyes settle on something you love to look at. The Guru is the way, and the fruit is staying close, rahai samaa-ay, merged with the One like a drop in the sea. What you keep your attention on is what you slowly become.

A Question to Sit With

Where does your attention naturally drift when your mind is free?
