In plain words

And there was a family that offered cows in sacrifice at the festivals of Eid and Bakrid, and honored sheikhs, martyrs and holy guides.

The father of that home lived that way, and his son Kabir did so well that he is famous in all three worlds.

Where you start does not set the limit of how far your love for the One can carry you.
The deeper layer

Holiness can rise from any home, in any community.

Jaa kai eed bakreed names the festivals of Eid and Bakrid. Kabir's family were Muslim weavers. They offered cows in sacrifice at these festivals and honored saykh saheed peeraa: Muslim teachers, martyrs and holy guides. It is a plain, respectful picture of how one family lived.

Then comes the turn. Jaa kai baap vaisee karee means his father lived that way. Poot aisee saree: and the son did so much. Tihoo ray lok parsiDh kabeeraa: Kabir became famous in all three worlds.

The point matches the whole shabad. No birth, in any community, sets a limit on a soul; the Name does the lifting. Like a rose, holiness can grow from any patch of soil, in every community.

A Question to Sit With

Can you think of someone who did something remarkable that no one expected from where they began?
