Setting Down What I Carried

Grasping hold of the Feet of the Saints, I have abandoned sexual desire, anger and greed. The Guru, the Lord of the World, has been kind to me, and I have realized my destiny. ||1||

Translation by Dr. Sant Singh Khalsa

In plain words

Holding on to the feet of the saints, I set down the heavy things I used to carry — my grabbing, my anger, my never-enough greed.

The Guru, the Lord of the world, was kind to me, and I found what I was made for.

You find what you are for once you set down what weighs you down.
The deeper layer

Close to the saints, craving, anger, and greed are set down (ti-aagay), and one finds what one was made for (labadh apnee paa-ee). You cannot find your purpose with your hands still full of heavy things.

A Question to Sit With

What is something heavy you would feel lighter for setting down?
