Where Fear Melts

ਦੂਖ ਰੋਗ ਭੈ ਸਗਲ ਬਿਨਾਸੇ ਜੋ ਆਵੈ ਹਰਿ ਸੰਤ ਸਰਨ ॥
dookh rog bhai sagal binaasay jo aavai har sant saran.
All pains, diseases and fears are erased, for one who comes to the Sanctuary of the Lord's Saints.
ਆਪਿ ਜਪੈ ਅਵਰਹ ਨਾਮੁ ਜਪਾਵੈ ਵਡ ਸਮਰਥ ਤਾਰਨ ਤਰਨ ॥੧॥
aap japai avrah naam japaavai vad samrath taaran taran. ||1||
He Himself chants, and inspires others to chant the Naam, the Name of the Lord. He is Utterly All-Powerful; He carries us across to the other side. ||1||

Translation by Dr. Sant Singh Khalsa

In plain words

When you come and rest among the people who love the One, something eases — the aches, the worries, the fears begin to melt away.

And the beautiful part is that it spreads: the ones who remember the One naturally help others remember too. Peace spreads among the Guru's people.

Among the Guru's people, peace spreads — those who find it help others find it too.
The deeper layer

The saints' sanctuary is presented as a place of healing — pain, disease, and fear all dissolved there. And the gift is not hoarded: one remembers and helps others remember. The current of remembrance passes from heart to heart.

A Question to Sit With

Have you ever felt calmer just by being around calm, kind people?
