Serving, Singing, At Rest

bhagtan kee tahal kamaavat gaavat dukh kaatay taa kay janam maran.
Whoever works for the Lord's devotees and sings His Praises - his pains of birth and death are taken away.
jaa ka-o bha-i-o kirpaal beethulaa tin har har ajar jaran. ||3||
Those unto whom my Beloved becomes Merciful, endure the Unendurable Ecstasy of the Lord, Har, Har. ||3||

In plain words

When you help the people who love the One and join your voice to theirs, the deep aches — even the big fears about beginnings and endings — quietly lose their sting.

And to those the Beloved is kind to, something amazing is given: the strength to hold a joy so huge it should be impossible to hold. They carry it, and it carries them.

Belonging and praise soften even the biggest fears, and grace gives the strength to hold great joy.
The deeper layer

Service to the devotees and singing together dissolve the ache around birth and death — the fear at life's edges softened by belonging and praise. Enduring the unendurable returns as the capacity, given by grace, to contain an overwhelming ecstasy. The heavy is lifted; the vast is held.

A Question to Sit With

How does helping others and singing along change the way a worry feels?
