Sikhism·Raag Soohee·Shabad 37
Verse 3 of 4

Weary of Wandering, Home at Last

ਅਨਿਕ ਜੋਨਿ ਭ੍ਰਮਿ ਭ੍ਰਮਿ ਭ੍ਰਮਿ ਹਾਰੇ ॥
anik jon bharam bharam bharam haaray.
Wandering, wandering, wandering through countless incarnations, I have grown so weary.
ਓਟ ਗਹੀ ਅਬ ਸਾਧ ਸੰਗਾਰੇ ॥੨॥
ot gahee ab saaDh sangaaray. ||2||
Now, I hold tight to the Saadh Sangat, the Company of the Holy. ||2||

Translation by Dr. Sant Singh Khalsa

In plain words

I wandered so long, through so many turns and detours, that I grew truly tired.

Now I hold tight to the good company of loving hearts, and I can finally rest.

After all the wandering, rest is found in good company.
The deeper layer

anik jon bharam bharam... haaray — worn out by long wandering (across many lives, in the traditional image). ot gahee ab saaDh sangaaray — now grasping the shelter of the sangat. The long tiredness makes the arriving-home sweeter; rest is found in good company.

A Question to Sit With

Where or with whom do you feel like you can finally relax and be yourself?
