Worship Him, and dedicate this mind unto Him, the Image of the Undying Lord, the Divine Guru. ||3||

In plain words

The One sees exactly how things are inside you and never lets your honest effort go to waste — so serve with your whole heart.

Let your worship be this: give this restless mind over to the Undying One, the light that never dies.

Your honest effort is never wasted, even when no one sees it.
The deeper layer

This one says: your honest effort is never wasted, even when no one sees it.

Ghaal na bhaanai antar biDh jaanai: the One knows what is going on inside you, and never lets your work fall apart unrewarded. Ghaal means honest effort. Think of shooting hoops alone in the driveway. No one claps. But the One sees every shot.

So serve the One with your whole heart. The worship asked for here is not ceremony for its own sake. It is kar poojaa hom ih manoo-aa: offer this mind itself.

And offer it to akaal moorat, the form that death cannot touch. Those words come straight from the Mool Mantar, the opening lines of the Guru Granth Sahib.

A Question to Sit With

Have you ever worked hard at something with no one watching? How did it feel?
