Remembering the Kind One, All Hearts Soften

ਸਿਮਰਿ ਸਿਮਰਿ ਦਇਆਲਾ ॥
simar simar da-i-aalaa.
Remembering, remembering the Merciful Lord in meditation,
ਸਭਿ ਜੀਅ ਭਏ ਕਿਰਪਾਲਾ ॥
sabh jee-a bha-ay kirpaalaa.
all beings have become kind and compassionate to me.
ਜੈ ਜੈ ਕਾਰੁ ਗੁਸਾਈ ॥
jai jai kaar gusaa-ee.
Hail! Hail to the Lord of the world,
ਜਿਨਿ ਪੂਰੀ ਬਣਤ ਬਣਾਈ ॥੩॥
jin pooree banat banaa-ee. ||3||
who created the perfect creation. ||3||

In plain words

Holding the kind One in mind again and again, I found the whole world grew gentle toward me.

Praise to the Lord of everything, who made this beautiful, perfect world.

The kindness you carry inside often meets you again in the world outside.
The deeper layer

This one says: keep remembering the Kind One, and the world grows kind to you.

Simar simar da-i-aalaa — remembering the Merciful One again and again. Sabh jee-a bha-ay kirpaalaa — all beings became kind to me. Think of walking into class smiling. Somehow, everyone smiles back.

Then comes a cheer: jai jai kaar gusaa-ee, praise to the Lord of the world. Jin pooree banat banaa-ee — who made this perfect creation. Stopping to wonder at the world is itself a way of saying thank you.

A Question to Sit With

How does your own mood change the way the world seems to treat you?
